Lyttelton's very own public swimming pool is enjoyed by the community over the summer months.
Surrounded by breathtaking views of the Port Hills and Lyttelton Harbour, this pool offers a safe and enjoyable space for people of all ages to splash, play, and develop their swimming abilities.
Norman Kirk Memorial Summer Pool will open from Saturday 15 November 2025. Casual users can access the pool until Sunday 25 January 2026. This will be the last day that lifeguards supervise the pool.
Members can access the pool until Sunday 29 March 2026.

Membership
Get summer-long key access to the pool for you and your whānau with a summer pool membership.
Simply sign up for your membership online and attend a member induction session to collect your key.
Members are required to clean the pool at least once during the summer season. Members can book a time here.

- Click on ‘Summer Pool Seasonal Access’, choose your preferred membership and click ‘Add to cart’.
- Click on ‘Go to the shopping cart’.
- Review and click ‘Go to payment’.
- Follow the steps to make payment.
- You will receive a confirmation email with information about attending a member induction at the pool and collecting your access key.
Create a new online account
- Visit the online account log in page.
- Click 'Join now'.
- Choose Jellie Park as your facility and click ‘Next’.
- Click ‘Create a guest account’ and click ‘Next’.
- Free trials are not available at summer pools, please click ‘Next’.
- Enter your details.
- Click ‘Go to your client portal’.
- Click on ‘Buy entry passes’
- Click on ‘Summer Pool Seasonal Access’, choose the membership you would like and then click ‘Add to cart’.
- Click on ‘Go to the shopping cart’.
- Review, click on ‘Go to payment’ and follow the steps to make payment.

Member induction sessions
Membership induction sessions are held most days on site. Members will complete a health and safety induction and collect their access key.
Sessions:
- Monday 10 November 11am and 6pm (returning members), 4pm (new members)
- Tuesday 11 November 11am and 6pm (returning members), 4pm (new members)
- Wednesday 12 November 11am and 6pm (returning members), 4pm (new members)
- Thursday 13 November 11am and 6pm (returning members), 4pm (new members)
- Between Saturday 15 November to Wednesday 28 January 2026:
- Every weekday at 6pm (excluding Christmas Day and New Years Day)
- Every Saturday and Sunday at 11am (excluding 24 December and 31 December)

Keep our pools safe
We want everyone to be able to enjoy the pools and have a safe and enjoyable experience.
It’s important that caregivers take extra care when accompanying a child to the pool.

Supervision of children in the pool
- Children under five years old must be within arm’s reach and under constant supervision by a responsible caregiver aged 16 years or older in the pool at all times, who is wearing an orange wristband.
- Children between the ages of five and seven (inclusive) must be wearing a purple wristband and actively supervised by a responsible caregiver aged 16 years or older, who is to be within the pool area at all times and able to provide immediate assistance.
- Children aged 8 to 11 years (inclusive) must have a responsible caregiver 16 years or older on site unless they are in a supervised programme, such as swimming lessons. If they are swimming before or after their programme, their caregiver must be onsite.
